Understanding design and its influence on our lives is essential to observing, interpreting, and shaping the world around us.  Design education provides people with the visual and verbal skills to do just that.

A City of Neighborhoods invites a variety of community members to work together to extend the classroom into the community and apply design education to a neighborhood context, so that teachers can take this model back to the classroom and develop similar programs for their K-12 students.
